• As Co-Chair of the 2004 Flood Relief, made certain that Newland and Crossnore’s needs were met

• Secured 50 new state jobs at the Mountain View Correctional Center

• Obtained almost $2.5 Million in small county school grants for Avery County

• Secured more than $250,000 in funding to preserve the Upper Linville River

• Supported the Main Street & Small Town Programs for Newland & Crossnore

• Arranged for new Highway Directional Signs to Newland from Boone

• Helped secure two additional teachers for Beech Mountain School

• Designated Newland as a Trout Heritage City

• Obtained $90,000 grant for well project in Crossnore

• Completed advance work to re-open bridge program at Three Mile

• Protected 1250 acres of high mountain vistas in Yellow Mountain and Bear Paw
